Fred was able to guide Thomas in the style of wine he hoped to achieve — big, fruit-forward, and abundant with exceptional purity as well as enduring structure.

Together, they pursued a path of natural winemaking, one where the vineyard makes the wine and the winemaker does their best to get out of the way. With Thomas’ genuine brilliance, absolute attention to detail, and dedication to excellence, the pair were a perfect fit.

Despite joining forces just before harvest the preceding year, both Fred and Thomas consider the 2001 vintage to be the first sign of the great things to come, as they were able to directly and comprehensively manage the vineyard cultivation for the first time. The rest, as they say, is history.
