Lightning Strikes Twice
Friends, we are delighted to report the 2013 harvest has come to a close. We have picked our last grapes and our young wines are now resting quietly in the cellar at the winery. With all of the wonderful things you have heard about the marvelous 2012 vintage, it may be hard to believe 2013 could be even better. Amazingly, it was!
We experienced one of the most consistent growing cycles we have had in the Napa Valley, and certainly the most idyllic we have encountered in the history of Schrader Cellars. Warm sunny days gave way to temperate, cool evenings that created the optimal environment for extended cluster hang time on the vine. The added on-vine ripening gave our fruit exceptional character and concentration, which we see amply displayed in the young wines as richness, complexity, and spectacular depth.
In truth the conditions of the season were so favorable they surpassed our wildest dreams. We are thrilled to share this great news and look forward to many more great tidings as these wines develop.
