Harvest 2016 is Here!
After months of wonderful sunshine and diligent work in the vineyard, our team has finished bringing in our Schrader Cabernet Sauvignon grapes and delivered them to the winery. Keeping a close watch all summer long, Winemaker Thomas Brown ensured that all our grapes were brought in before early autumn rains hit the valley. Thomas felt the grapes were ready to be picked in early October when the fruit was at its optimal ripeness and maturity.
During harvest, once Thomas gives the approval for picking, the vineyard crews don their headlights head out to the vineyard around 2AM to start harvesting the grapes when they are at their optimal balance before the break of dawn. At the winery, our winemaking team sorts through the grapes to ensure that only the best quality fruit makes it into the tanks for fermentation.
We are excited to let you know that early reports from the winery are looking good and that Harvest 2016 is off to a great start. Stay posted for more news as the wines move their way through the fermentation process.
